Yest. I saw three different Snapping Turtles up on land laying their eggs. Quite amazing. These very large aquatic turtles find a spot of sandy soil, dig a hole with their rear legs, lay 30 plus eggs, throw the soil back over them and then crawl back to water, wishing the eggs good luck. Most eggs get eaten by raccoons, crows, etc. This was the smallest of the three I saw. The other two were the size of basketballs! They chose fairly conspicuous spots to nest in (this was right off the bike trail, as you can see) and didn't seem to mind people stopping to look. They had their mind on the egg laying I guess.
