Anne, yesterday I went out to take photos of birds. Would you believe it, none are worthy of looking at. I really take my hat off to you! Yours are always so crisp and clear. Plus your birds seem to sit still long enough for you to capture them.
OK, I normally use auto, and a photographer friend helped me with my settings. Everything looked so flat and colourless.
I really admire your patience and dedication

@ninaganci Thanks so much. I use a high-zoom point & shoot (a Sony with a nice Zeiss lens) and shoot on aperture priority (setting the apeture as wide open as possible so that the shutter speed will be higher to freeze the action). The bird feeders in my backyard bring in birds very close and I can shoot from my house out the window before they see me. I also do a little editing usually in Photoshop elements to heighten the colors a tiny amount. A 365er tipped me off to a good site called Lynda.com, where I took an online course in using PS Elements 13. It really helped. You might look into it. Don't give up on birds....I know you must have some gorgeous ones in South Africa.
