Puddling Eastern Tailed-Blues by annepann

Puddling Eastern Tailed-Blues

In August I finally found several puddles of butterflies. This is where newly emerged male butterflies take in minerals from the soil that they need & can't get from nectar. It usually happens around the edge of puddles. There were many more than in this photo. The brownish butterfly in the rear right is a Gray Hairstreak. This was taken in the parking area of a trail in Indiana.
These are beautiful!
