new name

couldn't get these in focus - then couldn't be bothered. They used to be schitzostylus, but were reclassified in 2012 or something (I only found out this year and can't remember yet what their new name is)
Hesperanthus coccinea?
Schitzostylus sounds awful but it is easier to remember. ;)
They're cool looking, though.

@meotzi yes, hesperanthus - thinking of a 'mnemonic' - if "hesper" means hope (which it may not!!) I HOPE I remember what it's called! :-)

Goodness me, how do you remember all of these names of so many plants. I have great difficulty with plant names

@seacreature I never used to bother - then it just sort of creeps up on you

@anniesue It means evening. Hesperanthus = evening flower. And now we will both confuse it with evening primroses. :D

@meotzi if I remember to look when I'm next in the garden - in the Evening - I'll try to remember its name!!

Curious to see what the opened bloom looks like. Does it look like a mini iris?

@beckyk365 not like an iris - I'll put a note to photo it (or someone else's)
