I couldn't think of anything Scottish I'd got to take out with me to reference Burns' Night, so I hoped I'd find something. What, I had no idea!! In fact I saw a small boat called Isla being towed to the workshop, but had no opportunity to snap it. Then, just where was I parked, I found this :-)
@beckyk365 I first became aware at college, but I've never celebrated it - even though it would have given me an opportunity to dress up! (and I can genuinely claim a tartan)
I knew about Burns night as a child in Rhodesia because that was very colonial even after UDI (although my Dad used to refer to Perfidious Albion). But South Africa isn't colonial at all,- and I have long since forgotten that there ever was a poet by that name until someone like you mentions it ...
@seacreature it's the sort of thing that's printed on calendars - and this year of course there's all the business of how it was to be celebrated with Covid restrictions, so it was on the news.
