I think you are reasoning it correctly but I am not certain that the difference in shadow length would be easily discernible after just a week unless you had some kind of "yardstick" by which to measure it. i.e. a particular static object in the ground near the end of the shadow such as a contrasting rock or similar.

@seacreature it's just a casual noticing really, but I can see I'm not at the same point when taking the two shots, so any extrapolations are flawed!!
