Great shot. I have just seen a photo posted by Deb who posted a shot for Memorial Day too. I will say here what I said to her.
Brilliant capture and a great tribute. My grandfather was killed in WW1 and my father survived WW2 but died shortly afterwards when I was 3 years old. My uncle was in a Japanese prisoner of war camp for 2 years during WW2 and my husband was in the military for 35 years, so I too have a lot of respect for our servicemen and women too.

@amandal I love parades too! This one is in my town and it is so short that "if you blink, you miss it!" But we have fun going to it every year.

@april16 Love small towns and their quaint parades. We had one yesterday, too, but opted to do the zoo instead. Maybe there will be one for the 4th.

@onewing What an honorable family history that you have for service to your country! I'm sorry that you lost your Dad at such a young age. Your husband was in the military for 35 years, wow, and it was during that time that you lived in Cypress for awhile? I was wondering if other counties had a similar holiday and on what date it fell on. In the United States, Memorial Day always falls on the last Monday in May and is sort of considered the beginning of the summer season. In my "neck of the woods" the children don't get out of school though until about the third week of June. But in warmer parts of the U.S., like Florida, the children get out of school in May. But Memorial Day is always on a Monday unlike other holidays which fall on a specific date. Thank you for your lovely comments. Much appreciated!

@lilminimonka Thank you, Brianna! In the United States, Memorial Day always falls on the last Monday in May and is sort of considered the beginning of the summer season. It is a holiday to remember those who have served their country and especially those who have died or have been injured in service to their country. There are many parades and afterwards remembrance ceremonies in many towns. Many towns also have fireworks displays. I was wondering if other counties had a similar holiday and on what date it fell on. I would be very interested in learning about the holidays in your country!

@april16 Thanks April. In the UK when David was in the RAF the annual memorial day is Remembrance Day which is on the 11 November and then in Australia when he joined the RAAF our annual memorial day here is Anzac Day which is April 25. So here we celebrate both. Yes we were in Cyprus with the RAF.

@april16 In Australia we have a very similar day and we call it ANZAC Day. Anzac stand for (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps). Babs briefly described it above and to Australians that is our equivalent to remember our heroes. :)

@onewing @lilminimonka How interesting! It is so important to stop and remember our fallen heroes! In the U.S. we also have what we call Veterans Day on November 11th, a holiday to honor all veterans who have served in the military in wartime and peacetime. Thank you for taking the time to write to me!
