John did the baking this year. On the left are nut balls, his dad's recipe. On the right are chocolate chip cookies--the recipe is from Penzies spices, a store that sells only spices and features recipes at the different spice displays.
The Christmas decorations, especially the lights, have provided such a great opportunity for bokeh and shallow dof practice. I did a little research about creating bokeh a while back with a point and shoot and it wasn't encouraging. I've been working a lot with the Christmas lights and I've found that if I focus on an object in the foreground and use enough distance between the object and the lights in the background, I can do it. It has really been a great opportunity, photographically speaking (is that a real word?) to practice.
It has been so busy and I apologize for my absence and falling behind in commenting but I so enjoy looking at all of your beautiful photos. I study them all and I'm learning so much from all of you! I've still got a lot of Christmas photos to share because I've enjoyed working with the lights so much so I'll still be posting them. I hope that all of my dear 365 friends had a very Merry Christmas and I wish you all a very Happy New Year! All the best in 2015!
Lovely cookies can I borrow your hubby. You have had some lovely shots over the year April and I look forward to your 2015 photos. Like you I have been trying to learn as I go along with ups and downs over the months but enjoyed myself along the way and with meeting you all and reading your messages has kept me going. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and have a Happy 2015.
Great capture - yes, it is a real challenge to get bokeh with a point and shoot - takes forever (so it seems) and a lot of moving around! This is very nicely done and a fav for me.
