Copied this from a Pinterest link, first time I tried a landscape and I found it difficult to blend the colours the way I wanted it. I have to find a landscape photo to try this again. Rearranged my paintbox too so that I can find the right colours better. https://pin.it/4SxQN0z
@jacqbb i think that all you need is a couple of sheets of practice. Nothing more. And maybe, just maybe, a different paper. This technique requires paper that does not suck the water very fast. I think cotton paper is the recommended. But i think even that behaves differently.
Or maybe you were not quick enough. The top line of a couple of mountain rows appear as if the first line has dried already. You need to put that line of colour and then quickly come with water and spread it. It helps having 2 brushes, one for water only. The 3 rows of mountains in the foreground seem fine to me. That is why i think that you only need a bit of practice.
The trees are spot on. And the sky is stunning.
I think this is a good start
@jacqbb I like all the different layers and the colours. The trees are very nice too. As I have absolutely no idea how to use watercolour paints I cannot offer you any advice.
@jacqbb - i'm so afraid to do a landscape using watercolours. but from working on the butterfly last weekend, i was quite pleased with how the blending came out. mind, that was just one really small experience so i might be talking out of my rear here. i'll find a really simple landscape to try or maybe i should go back to that matthew palmer reflection painting and do it in water colour this time. i like the sky in your painting and the different mountain layers are quite intriguing. as always, you do a great job. aces!
