The second of four art boxes, my family organised for my birthday, arrived today, and it's all about watercolours.
I've done the colour chart for the tin and then had a go at a tutorial in the instruction booklet. I adapted it a bit, for a start they didn't use Olive, and theirs was in monochrome, but apart from that......
I copied a photo from my tablet, and I know I've got the proportions if her ears very wrong, but think I got her haughty expression?
@wakelys me too, but it does help in the long run. My first box was replicated, do you want some calligraphy supplies if they dont want it returned??? @summerfield I write like a left hander, with my right!!!
I am super impressed! This is really very well done @30pics4jackiesdiamond careful what you say about left-handed people though! I have to agree you caught her expression perfectly!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond this is lovely and you have definitely captured Olive's attitude and expression. Her eye colour pops perfectly.
A trick I was told about when trying to get proportions correct is to turn your picture around so that you are looking at it upside down. I haven't actually done it but I will try when I finally get around to painting or drawing one of my fur kids. I wish I had known about it when I did the oil pastel pictures of two of my dogs.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond this is stunning (apart from the ear). Honestly, I had no idea who painted it. I was staring at the beautiful box and at the awesome painting and tried to figure out whose hand was it.
Great job! I absolutely admire you! Left or right, doesn't matter.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond nevermind the signature. It was a nice exercise to try and figure out the author and a most pleasing surprise!
May you paint a lot with these!!!
And a happy birthday ! :)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond whoaaaaa!!! That is such a great idea. You had the calligraphy box first, if i remember corectly.
I can't wait to see what a lino cutting set is...
