This would be my attempt on Diana's flower, as I said, in pencil. The darker bits mean to be the purple spots, not shadows. I am at a loss with how to manage shadows and different colours in pencil. I am considering a version in coloured pencils. @monikozi
@monikozi - what is it you and katy always say? ah, you're too hard on yourself. this is great, kiddo. i say big ACES!
maybe you can do the exercise i do every morning as taught to me by my sister. you draw a long thin box, divide it so that you have 8 squares. and holding your pencil starting at the end, the eraser end, shade the first square as light as you can, then gradually hold your pencil nearer to the tip. like i did here: https://365project.org/artsygang/365/2021-04-20 and here https://365project.org/artsygang/private-convers/2021-03-30 my sister said to practice it in the morning when your hands are rested and more relaxed. at first i thought it ridiculously funny to be holding the pencil from the other end but it helped.
@summerfield Oooohhh.... that is so interesting. I need to try it. I noticed those boxes in your drawings, but I thought they were just swatches. I will definitely go for it. Thank you so much for sharing that.
The reason I am so hard on myself is because I've been avoiding any drawing or related art action for too long now. Someone needs to kick my rear end. And who should do that better than myself?
