This is my first attempt at Heather's tiny chapel https://365project.org/ladymagpie/365/2021-11-04 (for which we have permission to paint/draw).
I started in pencil, then switched to ink.
Let me point out that on the corners of the main building, on the door and on the rightmost window, on the light boulders frame, I should not have drawn the horizontals. On the other two windows and on the leftmost corner, I only outlined the lighter boulders and that looks much better.
Also, there is a bit of craziness on the roof: the verticals are a bit dizzying. :D
But, overall, I love how this turned out and I plan to redo it. Maybe in pencil or in watercolour. I am not sure. But I just love this. @monikozi
@salza Thanks, Sally! Well, I can't wait to learn some more. I think I like buildings because they are rather geometric, than organic. We'll see where this takes me.
@monikozi you definitely have a special talent for doing geometric drawings! Your attention to detail and precise efforts make it difficult to see any flaws.! I never would have noticed what you mentioned and still I’m not sure that’s a flaw anyway! We tend to be harder on ourselves and others are. I think this is very well done!
Gosh that's amazing!!! May I draw ( hahaha) your attention to our tag about not criticism of our own work?? However, you redeem yourself by saying you love it. And so do I
@grammyn You are so very kind, Katy. Well, perhaps it would just be more pleasant to the eye. And yes, that is more of a technicality rather than artistry. It's a thing the ink users promote: to draw directly in ink, as a line is there for good and you are forced to embrace the mistakes. I tried to do that here.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Ooooh yeees, Jackie. Thank you! You are so right. No harsh criticism. Just pointing out some ideas to bear in mind. Details I spotted. Consider that I am sharing my experience, rather than flogging myself. I really am not. As I was saying above, the idea of ink users is to dive into ink directly, because you can not erase any wrong line. And you are forced to accept any small flaws.
@wakelys Thank you so much, Susan. I really enjoy the details of buildings. And being able to render them in pencil or ink is still a dream. But I trust that I will get better at it in time.
@summerfield Oh, you are so cute, Vikki. I am still not grown myself. I still dream of what I wish when I grow up. but I am trying to take it one step at a time. I am now determined to practice every day, and not flog myself if I skip one day.
Since I'm a non-artist observer, I feel you've done a great job. I read what you are saying about what you feel is not right, but honestly I like the fact that it looks like a sketch from the heart and not an architectural rendering.
