i have already finished sketching this when i realized i had the wrong boat photo of billy's. i went back 10 days before the designated boat photo. https://365project.org/swillinbillyflynn/365-2021/2021-03-05 kinda felt good that i removed the fourth boat then i referenced ellen's and jaxter's paintings and i noted mine had no colourful buoys on the sides of the boats. i must've seen kitty's photo and got distracted, tee-hee.
i might do the other boat thingie one of these days.
i'm beginning to feel comfortable with watercolour now. the shadows and shadings are easier to fix with a wet paper towel. i used both wet-on-wet and dry-on-wet methods here. i still can't get the scale pat on even when i use a ruler to measure. my sister said i should quit using a ruler but when i don't it's worse.
@summerfield I am amazed at how perfect these are especially in watercolor! It seems you have done a remarkable job of quickly mastering the intricacies of watercolor!
@summerfield i find this pretty darn well done!!!! Congrats! The water, just like in my own case, is a bit difficult (personally, i still haven't got it right), but the boats and the shadows are extremely well done!!! Congratulations also for persevering in another medium! You rule!!!
@grammyn - i wouldn't say 'mastering'. it's more like noticing how easier and convenient to use a method once you've done it. if there are other watercolour techniques, i'd probably suck at them, too, because my brain is now ensconced deeply on those two techniques.
@monikozi - i think painting water is easier in acrylics, but that is not to say that i will try and paint this in acrylic anytime soon. but i would admit i'm beginning to like watercolour so that now, when i see a 'possible' project, i gauge it if would look good in w/c or acrylic. okay, more like 'is it easier for me to paint this in watercolour or acrylic?' i'm a lazy artist!
@summerfield well, i love acryllics too. I would certainly love to see this done in acrylics as well, but by you! :) including the water. I don't know what you say water is easy in acrylics. If i knew how to do that in acrylics, i would figure out a way in watercolour as well (i like to think so).
And yes, at first, i also claimed 'looseness' for using watercolour. But i think it is in fact my lazy artsy-fartsy ass that prefers watercolours because they are quicker.
So it makes 2 of us.
@summerfield How nicely you rendered these! And in a medium you're exploring,,,,I say you've conquered water colors with this sweet painting. It's great to be comfortable with a variety of mediums, you'll be able to express yourself any way you'd like!
took me a long time only to find out it was the wrong set of boats.
