Bus shelter 1952-1977 - 16-4

This is just a plain old stone and tile shelter with a plaque on the side wall saying E II R 1952 - 1977 and one on the back wall engraved with 2000. I wonder why? Opposite the shelter is a pretty little church. http://365project.org/barrowlane/taketwo/2013-04-16
