I really, really wanted to ask this man if I could get up close and personal to take some photos but chickened out and stood back and took some from far enough away not to be too obvious.
Has anybody got any experience of approaching strangers to take their photo???
I think you did well enough far off...i really like this & you can tell how into his music he is. Just ask would think but it's the plucking up courage that does me!!
Great shot... love busker shots... there is a guy in our local town I have been trying to get for ages but he is never there when I turn up with my camera! lol
This a great street photo! I have the same problem and try to be discreet. Actually if you can get away with it, it is almost a better candid because then somehow they seem to feel they need to "pose". He may have been happy to oblige though and just continued on. He was obviously there for the attention and probably some $$. Some 365ers seem to really be good at candids ... i love them but find it difficult.
This is a great candid street shot.
And yes, with my job I do have experience asking strangers if I can take their photos. Most people are flattered and more than happy to let you do it.
The only thing I have problems with is that most people want to look at the camera, which tends to give you a static shot. So, I ask them to continue on doing their thing, and to try to ignore me.
I explain that I would prefer a natural, candid shot with some action so if they don't mind, would they please allow me to move around them some.
The hardest part is dealing with the awkwardness of asking permission - the photography is the easy part! (and gets better with time)
