Jewelry Box by batfish

Jewelry Box

I found out that my friend, who works in a jewelry store, keeps her jewelry in a pile on her dresser. I decided that wouldn't do, so I made her a box.

Oh that is quite lovely. I would be so delighted if someone went to the effort of making something like that for me, I hope she liked it. Did it take you long?

You've certainly got talent :)

@stephanies - I worked on it a little bit every day for 4 afternoons. There was a little measuring and cutting, followed by a lot of waiting for glued joints to dry, more cutting, more gluing, more waiting, and then waiting for polyurethane to dry too. On the last day I just had the hardware to put on.

The hardest part for me would be cutting the wood. I am quite adept at putting flat pack furniture together - my house has a very narrow staircase so the wardrobes etc all had to be 'made' in the rooms. It infuriates my other half that I refuse to follow the useless instructions and work with what I see in the picture. Just curious.....did you construct toy furniture as a child? As with Lego bricks? I used to save my pocket money and buy dolls house furniture items from Lego and construct them just by looking at the picture too. Ha what a load of waffle, soz

@stephanies - I recently picked up a decent table saw and made a cross cut sled for it, which makes cutting multiple pieces the exact same size quite easy.

I had legos as a child, but I mostly remember making little cars, tanks, and space ships with them. I too have narrow stairs, and with a 90 degree turn in them and narrow door ways. The 2nd floor is furnished with stuff that comes apart.
