First bike ride of the year. Not 30 yards from the parking lot I meet the first obstacle of the year, a newly fallen tree, and promptly lay my bike down trying to hop it. An inauspicious start, but the ride got better from there. I'll get you next time, tree.
Oops !! A few years ago, I did one of our favourite routes. It's 18 miles climbing and dropping round a mountain. Some of it is simple, other bits very technical and hard. We were well practised, and the highlight is the last descent, almost a mile long, very fast, very narrow twisting single track, weaving in and out between tightly packed conifers. We got a real buzz from flying down this last section. As usual we got safely back down to car park, and headed over towards the car. The easiest part of the ride. Then Oops !!!
Some how, and to this day, I still have no idea of what I did. I was on the floor and literally tied up with the bike.
I asked for help to get free, and my mate just stood there, taking photographs of me !!
