meteor crater

the young explorer surveys meteor crater in arizona from the rim. it felt like we were on the surface of the moon, and we were amazed at how massive it was. they estimate that the meteor, about 150 feet across, was traveling at around 26,000 miles per hour when it hit. upon impact, over 175 million tons of earth were displaced, leaving a crater 550 feet deep, over 4000 feet across, and 2.4 miles in circumference. wow. pretty crazy to imagine that happening again!
