This beautiful butterfly is a resident in my garden. I can see it most days and it seems to prefer the heliconias, which is what it is sitting on in this shot.
Trip update: I've been made aware that 4 hours may not be enough time to get from Heathrow to Gatwick airport for our connecting flight to Amsterdam. I have been assured by the airline that if we miss our flight we will be able to take the next one five hours later! Fingers crossed :)
On second thoughts, you will have lots of luggage and this involves taking the underground. I would take the taxi and agree the fare with the driver before you set off!
@seanoneill Thanks Sean, I'm now trying to get a price from a car service. Just trying to remain cool and hope that customs are remarkably efficient on Tuesday :)
@lbmcshutter I think we will need it so thank you Megan :)
@bobfoto Just googled the plant and I do have one of those plants in my garden, I don't even know the common name.
I think it depends on what time you arrive at Heathrow - I got through Customs/immigration passport control pretty quickly, I actually beat my suitcase through and nobody was interested in my luggage - I was on QF9 which got my there about 5.30am - closer to 6am by the time we were off the plane but the queues for passport control moved very well
@lbmcshutter I'm so glad to hear you were through so quickly Megan. We don't get in until 6.35am so that could be a bit busier. We will just have to hope that luck is on our side :)
Beautiful butterfly... how lovely that it's a frequent visitor!
It once took me 2 hours to get out of Gatwick... by car it shouldn't take as long as an hour between airports I wouldn't have thought...are there minibuses that do the trip regularly I wonder? Would you like me to have a look-see?
@filsie65 I have booked a car service now Phil, thank you for the offer. I was getting very nervous about it so I now feel a bit better that someone is going to be there waiting to wisk us away. Megan made me feel better after hearing she was through customs really quickly. Hopefully we don't look like suspicious characters and they do the same for us :) There is a bus that goes between the two very regularly so that is a back-up plan. The car service is a reputable one with really good reviews.
gorgeous image! i've enjoyed going through your pics. i'm behind here at 365, catching up bit by bit. hope your trip is going smoothly. very interesting to see pics of your travels.

If I were you I would either take a cab, cost about £80-00 which should get you there on time as long as your inbound isn't delayed, or go into London and out again by train.
