The Isle of Sheppey Crossings

Day 16 - The newest bridge over the Swale (a strait in the North Sea) is a four-lane crossing and measures 21.5 m (71 feet) in width, at a height of 35 m (115 feet) over the water. The bridge opened in 2006 and provides an alternative highway to the neighbouring old Kingsferry Bridge. The Kingsferry Bridge is a combined 2 lane road and railway vertical-lift bridge - 50 ft (15m) wide with the highest point being 123 ft (37m) and was opened in 1960.
That's been quite an educational post Michelle. I googled The Swale (I had no idea what it was) and then looked it up on a map. Thank you.

Your welcome, when I first got married we use to live on the Isle of Sheppey and travel over the old bridge daily - it was a horrendous journey!
