What goes first the jam or the cream!

Day 272 - We had a delicious cream tea at the Tiptree Tea rooms but the disagreement still goes on what goes on the scones first the jam or the cream?

It seems it would be easier to spread the jam on the scone, then put the cream on top. I need to ask a family friend who had a high tea room in Albuquerque! These look delicious! Makes me want one. UPDATE, I asked my English friend. Had to laugh at her answer, below:
“Hello Lou Ann. The answer to that question is if you are Cornish you put the jam on first and then the clotted cream, it’s actually a tradition. But if you’re in Devon they put the cream on first then the jam. I suspect they do it to be contrary and to annoy the Cornish. Hope this helps you in your quest.”
