A bleak morning by bill_gk

A bleak morning

There was a strange feeling to the harbour. The stillness and quiet was broken by the gentle rumble of the Mon St Michel creeping slowly into port. My touch sensitive gloves aren’t very touch sensitive, so I had to take my glove off to operate my phone. The wind bit into my hands. Nice walk though.
The ferry looks enormous from this angle.

Great shot. It is Summer here now with hot weather and strong sunshine. I would send you some if I could. I am always baffled with your harbour pictures, I always expect you to say that the ship is leaving port instead of the opposite. I don't know how my mind always imagines the scene in opposite directions.

@sangwann sadly, I don’t have time in the mornings to get on the seaward side of the harbour entrance - too far away. @wakelys we’ve been on board her from Caen to home. She is big, but not when you compare her to one of the large cruise ships. The biggest we’ve been on is Allure of the seas, 200,000 tons, 1100 feet long. Mon st Michel is around 36,000 tons and 500 feet long - a lot of empty space inside for vehicles. Thank you very much for the comments.

A great capture of the ferry. We had some lovely holidays in Brittany many years ago and the ferry across with the car was always a wonderful experience except once in thick fog the fog horn was sounding all night.
