Cathedral of Sewage

This is the Abbey Mills sewage pumping station in east London. It is known as the Cathedral of Sewage due to elaborate design, both inside and outside. It was built between 1865 and 1868 and house eight enormous beam engines.
Interesting image; especially the elegant building surrounded by wire security fencing. (And of course, its unusual purpose…)
