Thankful for my freedom by bkbinthecity

Thankful for my freedom

Today I took a self guided historical walking tour of the Edmonton Cemetery. This cemetery dates back to 1886. There are two military sections in this cemetery. As I stood and took a look at all of those who have served their country and many who gave the ultimate sacrifice I could not help but think of how thankful I am to live in this country
Although Remembrance Day is coming up in a month this is anearly tribute to all of those who have served and are serving in the military
those ranks upon ranks of graves are so chilling, aren't they? great capture

Great photo. We are fortunate to live in countries that have their freedom, but at a large price. You can be very proud of where you live!

As we drove through France this summer we passed so many military grave yards. To see all those lives which had been lost was saddening

I think it is fitting that you acknowledge the sacrifice of those buried here on an ordinary day, since the sacrifices they have made will continue to eternity. Beautiful shot.

Lovely photo. God bless you for honoring the military troops serving around the world. My husband is one of them, currently in Afghanistan for a year. So I think about this every day.

@christiehicks Thank you. May God keep him safe and be with both of you until the two of you are reunited. If you don't mind what is his name. My wife and I would like to remember him in our daily prayers
October 19th, 2011
@bkbinthecity That's so sweet of you. His name is COL Kevin Hicks, he's serving with 1-10 CAV in Kandahar Afghanistan. I posted a photo of him earlier in my project at http://365project.org/christiehicks/365/2011-08-19. Your prayers would be mush appreciated.
