City Hall in the Fall by bkbinthecity

City Hall in the Fall

We went downtown to take in a city council meeting concerning the building of a new hockey arena/entertainment complex for our professional hockey team. The meeting only lasted about ten minutes when the public were asked to step out so council could discuss some matters in private. So when we left there was a tour of city hall starting at 2:00 so we took that in.
We were the only two people on the tour so it was like having our own private tour guide which was kind of fun.
I took this shot before we actually went into the buildig. Yes autumn has just started but with some very windy days some of the trees are looking pretty bare already
Nice shot! I remember the triangular shaped structure in the background from another one of your shots. You really do live in a very lovely city!

Love the lnes in this and the blue sky. Amazing all the leaves are down already.

What a lovely building, i hope the hockey arena was approved by council.

Beautiful shot from this angle. Noticed that you have lost a lot of your leaves already. Love the angular and linear look of this.

It's sad to see the trees bare. I hope winter doesn't last too long. It sounds like you had a nice time on the tour!

That is exactly what I thought.. hardly any leaves left on the trees. nice to have a tour guide just for the two of you..so did you get the results from the councelors?
October 15th, 2011
@bruni I don't think they have reached a conclusion yet. They are really good at taking their time to make up their minds
October 15th, 2011
@mrssmith I hope that winter is a long ways off yet. The tour was a lot of fun

@mittens Thanks. We have had a lot of windy days lately

@olivetreeann Thanks for the comments. I think that I do and when I can get a shot like this with bare trees and it still looks nice I guess that goes along way in showing what kind of city it is

lovely lines and colours here
October 15th, 2011
Still looks great against that blue sky.

beautiful POV, lovely tones against the blue sky
October 15th, 2011
So clear and crisp looking, great shot.
October 15th, 2011
Neat shot--like the trees silhouetted against the building.
October 15th, 2011
Sounds like you had fun! Cool trees.
October 15th, 2011
Nice shot!
October 15th, 2011
Very nice shot. I like that you used the tree branches. The Oilers getting new arena? I'm a big Rangers fan so Edmonton and NY share the Messier/Gretsky connection - though when we finally won the cup we had half the Oiler team.
October 15th, 2011
They sure are and look great against that clear blue sky!
October 15th, 2011
very nice shot
October 15th, 2011
cool looking building - wow - all your trees are without leaves, a little in front of us in term of the fall!
October 15th, 2011
Wow those trees are really bare! The branches look great against the sky and there is a nice echo of color with the buildings.
October 16th, 2011
What a lovely place... you live in a beautiful area :)
October 16th, 2011
nice shot, bkb - lovely blue skies and texture.
October 16th, 2011
@summerfield Thanks. It of course would have been nicer if the leaves were still there
October 16th, 2011
@aromatic Our downtown is a very nice place to spend time

@steeler Thanks Howard

@mummymorris Glad you liked it
October 16th, 2011
@michaelelliott Thanks. I am sure we will get the new arena. I don't think that our council would sit back and let the Oilers leave. We are to much of a hockey city to let that happen
