Preserving Our Past by bkbinthecity

Preserving Our Past

This is Hanger 11. It was built in 1942 by the American Airforce as part of the Northwest Staging Route.
Edmonton literally saw thousands of American and Allied Forces planes pass through Edmonton during World War ll.
The city was looking for a way to preserve the hanger and thankfully a developer has come forward that is designed a building project that will incorporate the hanger into its new structure that they will build
That's amazing!

That is good news. What I remember about our trip to Toronto is how they preserved so much of their brickwork, even when they put a big new building behind it. Nice that Edmonton is preserving some of its history.

Hubby recognized this as soon as he saw it. He was a pilot flying out of Comox and then Cold Lake in the 80s so he was familiar with this one.
