Day eleven of my series on Things Canada is Known For. Staying with the theme of lakes. Lake Louise in Banff National Park is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Canada. It offers spectacular scenery, beautiful hiking trails leading up to a lovely tea house. You really need to see it in person to truly appreciate its beauty. As well there is the Fairmount Chateau Lake Louise. Today's post is for Issi Bannerman @jamibann who mentioned Lake Louise as something she thinks about when she thinks about Canada.
Whenever we visit Banff National Park this one of the places we always visit
Beautiful shot. I was at this lake and saw this same view. However it was in January, 1977 and the hotel was closed for the winter and the lake was frozen over. It was a magical scene I’ll never forget.
When I was in elementary school, we studied Canada and I wrote a report on Lake Louise! It has fascinated me ever since.
A shout out all the years later to my teachers. We learned so much about Canada (less about Mexico, unfortunately) but I don't think my children studied geography nearly as much.
My parents stayed at the massive hotel overlooking Lake Louise at Banff. It was snowing at the time, and being from a tropical area of Australia, Mum ran outside and loved it... yes, it was freezing, but she enjoyed the snow.
