4-2-21 hairy lettuce

My first attempt at growing lettuce for my windowsill. Well, really for my sandwiches! Thanks to the macro lens, I can see hairy edges on these baby leaves. Not so appetizing. Oh well, it will be fresh!
Three good things:
1. Having a gas fireplace to take the chill off these fickle days
2. Raspberries and blackberries still on sale
3. Got a ten pound ham with bone in on sale...will have more split pea soup to make. And sandwiches. Lots of sandwiches. Should have started the lettuce earlier!

there is a name for those hairs, i saw something about them recently, not sure how to find it again, but its protection!

A windowsill garden - doesn't get fresher than that. I might have to attempt a container garden. Love your three good things. I got a bone in ham yesterday with Easter dinner and soup in mind.
