What is it?
It is an ultra light, compact, quick release tripod.

Why should you get it?
It is so light you can take it anywhere without ‘lugging around’ a regular tripod, so you always have a tripod just in case you need it.

Why ZipShot and not another lightweight or compact tripod?
The ZipShot comes in two sizes weighing just 255 grams and 312 grams, is sturdy and can even take a fairly heavy SLR. It also has a hardwearing heavyduty ball head, great for manoeuvrability.

What is the best thing about it?
It opens in about 3 seconds, check out the promo video – it is only 10 seconds long! It is super-light and streamline.

What are the drawbacks?
Very little height adjustment available, but this is better than having no tripod or a compact tripod that does not support anything other than a featherlite point and shoot. Not heavy enough for windy conditions.

How does it work?
Just like pop up tent poles. Release the ties and it springs into shape. Simply pull the poles and fold it up after use.

Any other nifty features?
The elasticated ties are great for attaching it to bags, camera straps, bike racks, handlebars, you name it – makes carrying it around even easier.

How much does it cost?
From around £25 or $50. Bargainous.

Tried and Tested?
I actually own one of these, and I love it. I used to moan when lugging a regular tripod around – or I would complain about missed shots when I didn’t take one with me on random excursions. Since I have had the ZipShot, my life has been steady-cam heaven. I chuck it in my bag whenever I go out, ‘just in case’ and have relied on it for photography excursions over my other tripods because it is lightweight.

I wonder how it would fare with a 500D? Otherwise, sounds amazing!

@peterdegraaff @pocketmouse @espyetta i just got mine! It's a bit shaky because it is a light tripod, as i expected. But it's PERFECT for carrying all the time with you to compensate low light settings, not for LOOOONG night exposures. I loved it.

Hate it. Unstable. Cannot deal with weight. Long exposure shots are risky due to shake. Going on eBay soon. Would only recommend for a sub compact camera or one of the small mirror less models.
