border

Went to Tijuana. The line of cars crossing the border did not abate all day. The first shot was taken at 9a, the second shot around 3p. We took a trolley from San Diego to Tijuana and walked across the border. It took us 10 minutes to cross getting in and over 3 hours to cross getting back into the US.
Oh my word. Sounds like you made the best decision!

It seems incredible that two such different worlds are only separated by a few feet of ground. We have the border that divides up Ireland into North and South and was the cause of so much conflict and tension , but you can pass over it now without even noticing . This one though is whole different ball game. Really interesting to see your experience of crossing it..

That certainly is a lot of traffic.

@tristansmum I took this from a bridge. An even longer line of cars was behind me. I have no real idea how long this line really is. How do people not run out of gas? Maybe they all did and it's just a gigantic parking lot....

I used to live in the San Diego area and before 9/11 I would go by myself to get medication or go to the bank when the interest rate was so high. It was so easy then and would only take about 30 minutes to get back in by car. Did you really have to stand in line for 3 hours? That is ridiculous!! We live in Yuma, AZ and go across the border at Algodones. We walk and coming back usually takes from 5 - 20 minutes depending on time of year and time of day. The world has certainly changed.

@stownsend I live in PHX, and I normally go to Nogales if I go across the border, but it's been years since I've been down there. I haven't been to Tijuana before and I don't believe that I will waste my time going back! The original Caesar Salad at Caesar's was worth it for a one time thing, though.

@blueberry1222 No, Tijuana is not worth it at all. Even Algodones is not really worth it. There is not much to do there but shop and drink! :)

Did you really have the Caesar Salad and it was great? I think I ate there about 20 years ago but didn't know about the salad at the time.

We may be in Phoenix soon as I am going to try to get my husband into Mayo Clinic asap for his melanoma. Health care in Yuma is not very good.
