This photo has absolutely nothing to do with what happened to me today on my way home from work. This photo that I chose to post is of an image that I took at Bodie last week or so ago. I did not take a photo of the two teenagers who helped me change the flat tire on my car, although I wanted to, but it was too dark. I just got off my 12 hour shift from work, the sun had already set, and the last thing that I wanted to deal with was a fully flat tire that I have no idea how it happened. It made me think of this story: http://bitsofwisdom.org/2010/12/20/today-you-tomorrow-me/
Thank you to the two 17 year olds who made a shitty situation that I did not have a remote interest in dealing with so much easier. You guys made my night!
amazing story, and so glad you got help , I know you can still have this kind of serendipity in New Zealand, though they would probably take the $20!. my partner spent time in Mexico land south America and has stories of fixing vehicles out in the middle of nowhere with wire and elbow grease, , they just know how to make do there.
I can sympathize with your story! A few years ago I was heading out to visit my son and his family when a tire went flat on my car- in the fast lane on a major highway! I pulled over and as I did another motorist pulled off on the opposite shoulder. He got out and helped me guide the crippled car to a safer spot and waited to make sure I got through to the towing company. I never got his name but he was certainly my knight in shining armor that day! I'm glad you had two for your situation. I really like the feeling you've captured in this shot by adding the sepia tone.
PS- check your other tires too. When the shop was replacing the tire on my car that had gone flat, they noticed a second tire that was about to do the same!
@olivetreeann good idea. What bums me out is this is my 2nd flat tire in three months... and my car is only six months old! I've had more flats with this car than all the flats I've ever had with the truck I owned for nine years. Agh.
