Sears store entrance

The Sears store at the local mall closed down right at the start of Covid. Seven months later, and the store is falling apart. (Is someone stealing those bricks? Looks like it....)

As a side note, Phoenix just broke a record for the number of days of triple digits temps...we've had 143 days over 100F this year.

Oh my gosh, 143 days!!!
Odd about the bricks. Maybe just youths fooling around.

All of the Sears stores closed here long before the Covid pandemic. I hated to see them go. It was my favorite place to buy a tool.

@byrdlip ah! you're probably right. I didn't think of that.

The perfect metaphor for our times the passing of brick and mortar stores....ie Amazon prime days.

Powerful capture

Pandemic, riots, violence, weather extremes - it seems not only this Sears store is falling apart.

I think Kate said it real well! Good capture - our Sears store closed well before the Pandemic - my source for lots of things.

Our Sears closed as well. In fact the Marquette Mall is closed. I call it the dead mall. The indoor Mall in Lombard, Illinois is thriving. Indoor malls were all the rage in the 1970s. They were building them all over the place. When Marquette Mall began to die, Lighthouse Mall came in and killed it. So many of these Malls are dead.

Wow on both the disappearing bricks and the temperatures! Interesting.

To me this speaks volumes as to the thin veneer of our hold on things.
