The project

And I thought cutting pomegranates was a pain in the butt. Cutting the spines off of prickly pears is so time consuming! (got them off my neighbor's cactus. There's hundreds of them on there and everyone ignores them. They are an under appreciated fruit.)
They are fabulous, once one gets the knack of peeling them it goes rather quick. It used to be a very popular fruit when I grew up, but I seldom see them these days.

@ludwigsdiana They are popular with the Mexican community and I only ever see them for sale in Mexican groceries.

They look wonderful! What do they taste like?

@marlboromaam Straight up, they taste like sh*t (I'm not kidding, they taste pretty gross because the seeds are so bitter), but juicing them transforms them into a sweet, almost flowery flavor.

@blueberry1222 Interesting. I've seen folks eat them on TV. Just wanted to know. =)

Very cool, do you strain the seeds when you juice?
July 30th, 2021
@tosee I run them through the juicer and it spits them out for me.
