flying buttress statues 1

The city of 's-Hertogenbosch (aka 'Den Bosch') was in a festive atmosphere since hosting an art show displaying nearly all of the known Hieronymus Bosch paintings. They were kind enough to put up scaffolding outside of their cathedral and allowed visitors to climb around the gargoyles and statuary, which they normally never allow.
love this high point of view - scaffolding high up sounds a bit scary.

I figured they were in Bosch's home town, You have to love his characters . I'm guessing these came after him and were inspired by him?

They're all wonderful, but this group are my favourites... I especially love the beast at the back.

I had no idea about these.

@jack4john We were told that these are copies of the original statues that had to replace the originals that were very worn out. I tried finding out more info on the dates of the original gargoyles but I never did find the answer, so I don't know if the originals are contemporaneous with H.Bosch or not.

What a gift to see them. I really like how you've capture them. Really like the ratguy at the back of this group.
