Who's good at identifying plants?

This cute little guy just popped up and I don't know what it is. It's super small, grows low to the ground, and has practically no stems to speak of. Super big blooms. Any ideas? I thought it was a weed...

@kali66 Love you, Kali! I think that you nailed it. I have no idea how that landed in my garden, but I'm buying seeds for next year!

i have grown them but they would be more suited to your climate, the seeds are really tiny

@kali66 Thinking back, I vaguely recall buying a seed pack of this once a few years ago and they never did anything. We had tons of rain this winter, so I think that they must have been lying in wait all this while. They probably need more water than what we normally get.

one of those desert plants that only flower after a rain, is the desert filled with unusual flowers at this time? thinking of what happens in Australia

@kali66 omg...you should see it out here. Wildflowers everywhere. https://www.desertusa.com/wildflo/az.html The downside is that when it starts to get hot, all the flowers will turn into fodder for wildfire fuel, though. It's gonna be a rough summer, for sure.

It is so pretty, definitely a daisy but I wouldn't have known what variety. Thanks to Kali we now know.
