We got close to a foot of snow this weekend but to add to our winter wonderland scenery we had what the weatherman called "freezing fog" overnight so everything was coated in a blanket of thick white frost this morning. This female cardinal was quite visible even though she was sitting deep within this White Pine.
Amazing capture. Poor little bird; looks absolutely frozen. Beautifully framed shot of this little creature and those wonderful frozen plumes of ice and snow.
Paula you did a beautiful job with this photo. I like the placement of the cardinal in the heavy needles. Very attractive. The soft focus is really nice too.
@ellida@geertje@kezzam@wac@pfmandeville@ZG@girlie@indiannie_jones@maggie2@timandelke@ZG Thanks so much for all your positive comments! It was really cold out today but the birds seem to handle it quite well...they just fluff themselves up and eat a lot! They'll be feeling better later in the week since it's supposed to be in the 40's here by Thursday...go figure! :)
Paula, this is awesome! I love freezing fog and it afforded you a wonderful photo op. And to catch the cardinal there. And the editing. Just wonderful! And congrats on having her make the popular page!
My, you did get socked with the frost...that poor little girl...she is a beauty though and you did a great job framing her for us!
Also, thanks for the Hypnotic info...guess I never played with the slider...how cool...I know that PhotoShop class I am about to start will be useful but Picnik is so easy compared to that...you need to know very little to do some cool editing!
What a stunning and beautiful shot, Paula!!! Wow!!! Her colors are beautiful, and she is so accentuated by the white everywhere around her!!! It looks COLD...
