Went looking for Bald Eagles and found what I thought were Snow Geese but googled them just to make sure and came to the conclusion they are some kind of Swan. At first I thought they were Tundra Swans but after a little research I'm wondering if these aren't Trumpeter Swans because they don't have the yellow spot under the eye like Tundra Swans. Oh well, they were pretty cool too watch and listen too...some really loud honking going on and 2 of the bigger ones were literally standing upright on the water challenging each other. Of course I messed up and didn't get a good shot of their little altercation.

We heard about some trumpeter swans near us on the Des Moines River, but when my husband and I went looking for them yesterday, we found six of them way out in the middle of a cornfield!
@lynnz Thanks Lynn....I was really surprised to find out I had photographed Trumpeter Swans...they were way out in the river and I just thought they were geese until I got home and looked at the pictures. Gorgeous birds...really BIG & LOUD! :)
