Christmas pastry by boxplayer

Christmas pastry

A very buttery, tasty Christmas pastry at the Finnish church at their Finnish Christmas lunch.

Lay in a bit this morning, feeling very headachey unfortunately. It didn't seem to want to shift despite taking a couple of aspirin.

Got up and had a quick toast breakfast then did a bit more tidying up, emptied the bins, changed the towels and gave the bathroom a good clean.

Left a little later than ideal and had to stop for petrol, but soon we were on our way down the A12 and on to the Finnish church in Rotherhithe. Plenty of parking available and we parked just round the corner.

Met my mum and Tony and Ena inside the church where we went upstairs for lunch. Initially we couldn't find our seats (all labelled with the name of whoever had made the reservation) because they'd misspelled my mum's name.

Lunch was a buffet with lots of melt in your mouth smoked salmon, herring, potatoes and root vegetable mashes. Then tea, coffee and pastries.

Watched a bit of the Christmas Eve service after that but then left and drove back home. I made a bit of trifle then we watched Penguins of Madagascar. Then I rustled up a bit of a buffet sandwich and salad supper. Then a bit of Alan Bennett before switching over so mum could watch Eastenders. Then a bit of David Walliams and Shirley Bassey.
