Dried umbellifers

On our short Epping Forest walk - lovely warm sunny spells. Dave's colleague F accompanied us this time and he and Dave had a great time ID'ing trees, flowers and whatnot.

Quick turnaround after getting up - just a bit of banana and cheese for a quick breakfast. Picked up F then drove to High Beach - already very busy - lots of bikers clustered around the tea hut of course.

Walk was 3 miles taking in Avey Lane Farm, Motts Lane, Lippitts Hill, the Suntrap education centre then round back to High Beach. Got extremely anxious approaching a field by the farm to find what I thought were bulls with the hugest of horns - they turned out to be cows - but that didn't settle me particularly especially as they had calves. We skirted the edge of the field very quickly - the cows didn't bat an eyelid.

Ate lots of blackberries, and sloes were out too though didn't eat them obvs. Heard but couldn't see many birds - spotted some kind of bird of prey but I just can't tell the difference between them. F had worn his wellies and found a few puddles to splash into. Lots of horses about too.

At High Beach, stopped at the seafood shack there for oysters, prawns, whelks plus fried tempura prawns and crab claws. Then tea and Victoria sponge from the hatch round the front.

Drove back via F's and picked up the books we're storing for him. Spent all day catching up with my photo processing and notes backlog. Veggie kebab for supper and started watching the Inbetweeners - mildly entertaining.
