Staircase

On a training course all day today - Personal Impact and Effectiveness. Sounded interesting until a few days ago, I realised I'd somehow got myself on an assertiveness course and nobody would describe me as passive. But then I realised actually it might be quite useful as I could get some tips on being possibly slightly less emotionally involved when stuff doesn't quite go right (for that, read 'cross').

In the end, was actually quite thought provoking and things have definitely moved on since I last went on a similar course probably 25 years ago where basically the only technique I can remember is the 'broken record' where you just repeat what it is you want to say in a robotic fashion until your listener loses the will to live.

A view down the staircase from the 7th floor. Ummed and aahed over this one or another slightly off-centre version which I may or may not post later after the folk session.

Well I think this one is fab. A friend of mine once rang up the local night school to book on to an assertiveness course and they said it was cancelled. She didn't think it was funny when I said she should call back and insist that they reinstate it (I'm pretty sure the course was so she could manage me better).

I really like this shot! I had tried for something similar looking up, rather than down and ended up discovering our building's stairwell had a skylight (after 10 years of not noticing!). I like the lines and angles in your shot, and the B&W is really effective. Here's mine, just for fun... http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-02-21

Don't usually believe in mass thanks - but will make an exception here - a big thanks to you all, both old and new commenters - a lovely fillip during a glummish week.
