Building A Tree by bradsworld

Building A Tree

In Southern California we beautify the landscape by turning ugly cell phone towers into ugly trees. They will all be chopped down one day, when better technology takes over.
This is a very interesting photo. Love the lines and angles...and all that blue sky!

So that's how those things grow :-)

Soo cool! I've seen them around here in CA, but never being "assembled".

Interesting photo. :-)

Hmmmmm!

Building a tree?
What's the story behind that?
You've got me really curious!
Great capture, though. :-)

This has me curious, too. It doesn't look a tree, it looks like a utility pole of some kind. Hmm. Very cool though :)

Are they attempting a pine tree in the middle of palm trees? Very subtle. I like their style.

So the cell phone company salesman came to my boss and wanted to pay our company to put one of these towers up on our property, and the boss said he didn't want one of those :"ugly damn things" on the property and showed the guy the door. So the salesman went next door and they said ok. So now the boss has to look at it and doesn't get any money for it, lol. Cool shot :)

An "assembled" tree -- and it is NOT a christmas tree; I don't think I have ever seen one of these. If it is a cell phone tower (from Brad's comment) I have heard or read about these with the notion that they fit into the landscape.
Thinking about this week's theme -- this could be the FACE of CHANGE -- changing the way that trees are grown (lol).

Interesting photo! I hadn't heard about these new trees.

Great capture!

I love those ones! It's so much better than actually looking at the cell tower. I just wish they'd make em look like palm trees to blend in a bit better...or maybe I'm just a palm tree freak. haha!

Ahh, sigh..missing home right now, even with the subject of this photo. Palm tree and shade of the blue sky--it screams Southern California...I can almost smell it.

Great shot, Brad. We have those ugly tower trees here in the Phoenix area as well, and yes, some of them are "palm trees". Not sure the effect is worth the time, effort or expense.
June 6th, 2010
wow, in Pa we just have ugly cell phone towers. lol
June 6th, 2010
Haha, that's so funny...they are ugly "trees", aren't they? Well, at least they're trying, I guess!

On a side note, look at that amazing blue sky, not a cloud in sight..bet you're not having 103 degree temps there...lucky!! :)

That kind is especially hideous. I've been fascinated by these things since I moved here. The palm tree ones aren't quite as bad, though they stil look pretty silly. Here's a photo of one: http://365project.org/ellen/365/2010-03-09

Very nice angle.
June 6th, 2010
Ha ha...we have those eye sores here as well :)
June 6th, 2010
How funny! I've never heard of that. I wonder if they do it here in Seattle. Something to look into...
June 7th, 2010
I *knew* they did that, but I hadn't seen one...amazing! I like your assessment for the future! You're probably correct!
June 7th, 2010
Who knew?!
June 7th, 2010
This is facinating, never knew such a thing existed!
June 7th, 2010
What a great idea! I wish they would do something like that around here. Telephone poles ruin a lot of possible photos.
June 7th, 2010
We do have something like this in Michigan. They disguise them as huge flag poles.
June 7th, 2010
hahaha! I love it! Technology...need I say more?
June 7th, 2010
OMG... you are TOO funny (although your subject matter is not) ...
June 8th, 2010
haha thats too funny!!
June 8th, 2010
ha ha from ugly to ugly!! at least they are trying!!! nice shot

I don't think this technology has reached the Eastern Shore of Maryland yet. We still have just the ugly old towers.
