Wow -- I think this looks as if it were a beach on a different planet. I have to agree with the comments about a Tim Burton movie.

@Paul DeGuelle - Yes, this was shot from the tidepools right below Las Brisas in Laguna Beach.

@Eleanor - This area is a Marine Protected Area, and the wildlife can't be removed, but mussels from Southern California are usually considered safe to eat after October barring any unusual ocean conditions.

Terrific shot. It looks almost prehistoric. I love the birds in the background, too. They look like they're lining up waiting to get into the mussels.
