Melbourne's Victoria Barracks was built in the late 1850s and early 1860s as a base for the British Imperial Forces to defend the colonies. Following Federation in 1901, Victoria Barracks became the Commonwealth Government's defence headquarters. Thank you for your view and comments. Counting blessings everyday
I am retired and love photography. Starting at about 10 years old, I discovered this fascinating world through a viewfinder. Ansel Adams and Ken Duncan...
Know this building well. My husband had an office on the top floor. It was his first posting with the RAAF back in January1990 after leaving the RAF in December 1989.
Great shot. The red leaves on the vines look wonderful. When I was a young man, back in the Paleolithic era, I lived for a time in Sydney directly across the street from their Victoria Barracks. I didn’t know they had a namesake in Melbourne.
