Ghost town cafe

Another from the Christchurch post- earthquake series
Quite an interesting picture and composition...makes me want to see more, to see "the bigger picture"...

@ericdibosco I was doing a walk n' wander with friends who still live in the city post earthquake. A reflective time as this was an area i hung out at for a few days a few months prior to the quakes. The city has vast baron areas - and apart from a couple of landmarks - its hard to decipher where you are in relation to the old city. Kind of looks like a huge parking lot…. or as another person suggested - a war zone without the snippers.

Having said that - parts of the city are coming alive in a new way. So one way of capturing the big picture is to to capture the macro by shooting the micro…..

@orangecrush Thanks! only way to get this shot was through the fence - or on a tall ladder - much of the city remains out of reach.

There is a village in the UK called Christchurch, I lived near it when I was growing up, and it always gave me an affinity with Christchurch in NZ that has remained with me. I wish every success to those affected and rebuilding this lovely city. It seems there is much to do from your shot.

Jo
I thought it was an interesting photo before reading where it was - that made it even more so.
