Hollis

This is Hollis. I met him today on my way home from work. He was sitting under a tree on his walker - having a rest as I drove past.
Stop the car!! I thought to myself! I introduced myself and asked if i may take his photo - as I was doing a photography project. Hollis very kindly agreed.

We chatted and he told me he'd lived in the street - (one from mine) for 54 years with his wife who looks after the vege garden and is 91!!! (He's still young @ 89!) Hollis told me about his work - for years managed an iconic fabric store - Barker and Pollack. I asked he sewed and he quickly told me no!! the girls did that :)

I was thinking about how i might edit this and decided to include his environment and leave him au natural. This seemed most respectful for him - and let him tell his own story.....

Made my day!
Wonderful portrait

What a wonderful story and a wonderful portrait. I imagine Hollis had a grand time telling you all about his life. What a nice thing for you to do, both the photo and hearing his story.

Nicely done. It is my challenge to my push partner this week to get a portrait of a stranger. Makes me proud.
