Today my brothers and sisters are shouting mum, dad and 30 friends and family to High Tea at a hotel in the city to mark the occasion of her 80th birthday.
I've made an album (cloth bound with gorgeous heavy black pages and ribbon tie) that traces her life from a wee thing to now. With (hopefully!) most key periods represented. It starts with beautiful sepia photos - remember when they had the gorgeous crimped edges?! and ends with a photo I took of my mums hands last year. (I might post that again)
It will be a fun - but probably also emotional day!
So this is the final image for my get-pushed representing what has been taking me away from actually taking photos over the past week or so
Oh Brigette, I have goose-bumps, as though I was standing in that hotel-tea-room and turning the pages of your beautiful album! Lucky is the special mum who has garnered such love from her children! I can't thank you enough for letting me be one of the first to comment here and wish you the most wonderful day! And I can't leave this site without extolling the beauty of that cut-work cloth!!! I've been a member of the Embroiderer's Guild in years past and recognize and appreciate the love that went into this piece! I treasure a piece of the same colouration that my grandmother's best friend finished for her after her death, and she gave it to me. Call me sentimental...and I know you are as well... Give you mom a kiss from your friend in California who sends her love and best wishes for a spectacular day!
It is obvious a lot of love has gone into this lovely gift. The background you have chosen is perfect. We have come a long way technologically with digital photos and our ways of showing/sharing our photos has changed but really nothing beats something like this. I hope you all had a wonderful celebration.
I just love old photos. What a nice gift. I am your get pushed partner. My challenge to you is to creat a vintage style photo. Perhaps imitate the processing of an image from your album. Does that work?
Beautiful presentation of the perfect 80th birthday gift. I'm sure the day was one to remember and will hold a special place in the hearts of all present, especially your Mum.
