Sorry for the language. Today I visited my brother in hospital. He's in the middle of chemo and radiotherapy as an outpatient, but had to be admitted last night because his kidneys have stopped functioning properly - which is probably a side effect from the chemo.
I had to compose myself as I walked passed this sign... felt quite shocking to see those words 'oncology' in relation to someone so close to me. a bit surreal
Going through chemo myself. There are just certain words that are hard to say. It's wonderful that you can be with your brother. Having family around makes a huge difference.
Oh what crummy news, Bridgette... I see from the sign they've tried to put as pretty as face on it as possible with a decorative edging and calling it "a reception"... Nor much helps but prayers from your friends and we'll keep nyou and your brother in our thoughts.
So very sorry about your brother....cancer sucks!! Hang in there....hoping for the best.....yes, other members of our group have been going through it and documenting their journey as best they can here on 365....very therapeutic.
Brigette, I'll include your brother in my prayers. As others have said, hang in there...

Just saw this winning the F word. I know that feeling so well - oncology is a big word especially when it relates to you or a loved one. i remember walking into the Oncology Dept as a patient - it stops you in your tracks. Sending best wishes Brigette, to you and your family. Hope your brother is doing better now.

thank you everyone for your words of support - I know there are other people like @aat3877 who are going through this themselves or like me have family members. I've actually been ok - it's early days so I've not been letting my mind drift too far beyond one day at a time. Its when you see the C or O word that it kind of shocks you into reality. x
