Yesterday we sorted through mums clothes and personal things
At the time it was easier than I anticipated... until I arrived home with stuff to take to hospice and throw out (taking these things made it easier for dad...)
Somehow having mums stuff at my home intensified the feelings 😔
Dad was grateful to get this done though
It really is hard- the items become attached to the person and in the beginning it's hard to distinguish the memory from the actual object. I still have some of my dad's clothes but I think I've come up with a creative way to keep some of them while finally passing on others. I just turned some of my son's soccer jerseys into a quilt and I might do the same with my dad's plaid shirts. Taking a photo like this is another way to remember without the clutter. Hugs from PA, USA.
You have made an image filled with emotion, easy to relate to for those who have also lost our Mum and tasked with this challenge. Heartfelt love and thoughts are being sent your way. (({Brigette})) hugs
@nicolecampbell thanks Nicole.. yes I do have some lovely photos.. which as we know get all the more precious as time goes on.. @sunnygirl thank you.. sorry also to hear of your loss.. although mum didn't die in Hospice - it's one of the organisations I like to support as my younger brother died there a few years ago.. they are so awesome @wrightangle thanks Lesley x @ludwigsdiana -true Diana .. it actually felt harder the following days.. @sandradavies thanks Sandra.. yes there is some sense of knowing that others have also been through this that is helpful @momamo thank you @juliedduncan thanks for your message
