Minolta 16P by brotherone

Minolta 16P

My latest fun project, a Minolta subminiature or "spy" camera. A friend received this from her aunt's belongings. Kerri's aunt worked in the motion picture industry. I doubt James Bond shot this camera - he used fancy Minox spy cameras. Unfortunately, there was no film in the camera. And no film cartridge. Luckily, the Film Photography Project makes 3D printed Minolta cartridges. I could use motion picture film, but the cheaper way is to cut a roll of 120 film into three 16mm strips. I had to order a special film cutter, yes, there is someone who makes these for spy cameras! Then, in the dark I have to roll the film up and charge the film cartridge with it. The next challenge will be to customize a film developing reel to spool on 16mm black and white film. Yes, there are You Tube videos on how to do this. A far-fetched project, but it will be fun for Kerri to join together with her aunt again, even in this small way. We will both shoot through the camera and hopefully have some giggles.
It sounds like an exacting but fun project you and Kerri are embarking upon. Fab montage.

@dulciknit @jgpittenger It will be a fun diversion...There is a very tiny click from the shutter and this camera is about a basic as they go. Minox Spy cameras were made like Swiss watches. The Minolta is like a Timex!
