Reluctantly I had to go to Oxford Street. I hadn't bought any Christmas presents. I arrived at around 3pm and reached Marble Arch at around 8pm exhausted, with both feets aching and desperate to go home. My rucksack contained my dslr camera as well as a 15 inch macbook pro. It weighed about 3 stone and was way too heavy to be walking around whilst shopping. But I'm working from home next week and there was no way that I was coming to Oxford Street without my big camera in tow. So I grinned and beared it and just got on with it. I was pleased that I'd got mostly what I wanted whilst out shopping and was so happy to reach Marble Arch tube station so that I could start the 45 minute journey home. But wait...what's that I see in the distance. I see the lights of Winter Wonderland. I have to take more pictures even though it was getting on a bit and I was starving. So I trudge the seven minutes walk to the entrance. I stand outside to take photos as the queue for bag checking is on the long side. I get talking to one of the security personel and he tells me that he's a potographer and that he runs drawing workshops in east London. It's right up my street and hopefully one day I'll be able to make it. We're chatting for about ten minutes. He tells me that I should go in and the queue is a lot smaller so I think, what the heck, I'm here already so I may as well enter. There's so many lights. Lots of people. Food smells. I finally exit st around 9pm. Walk to McD, grab a burger and get home at around 10.30pm. I am utterly exhausted. Roll on the weekend.
